Reduce COL, control soaring commodity prices – SJB

Samagi Jana Balawegaya SJB leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday said that the government has not taken any steps to reduce the rising Cost of Living in the country since it came into power.

“It is pity to say that this Government has not taken any step to control the soaring prices of milk powder, LP gas, sugar, fuel, kerosene oil, cement and many other essential goods.

Premadasa was addressing Party supporters who gathered near Galle Face to express their protest against the government.

The SJB leader said that over 80 percent of the less-privileged people in the country face immense economy hardships due to this uncontrolled prices of commodity items.

He said the main objective of the SJB is to wipe out corruptions and massive financial frauds happening today and bring a peoples- friendly’ Government.Premadasa further said the SJB is ready to solve all economic problems of people in the country by establishing more employment avenues.

“This massive crowd highlights people’s agitation over the Government and no one knows why the Government does not take action to resolve these important issues as they promised before the last election period,” he said.

The Opposition Leader also highlighted about the fertilizer issue and said thousands of farmer families are suffering due to lack of fertilizer to start their Maha season cultivations.
