Religious ceremonies to mark Ven. Galboda Thera’s 80th birthday

A number of religious activities will be held today at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple to mark the 80th birthday of Chief Sanganayake of the Colombo New Korale Ven. Galboda Gnanissara Thera, Chief Advisor of Sri Jinaratana Bhikku Abhyasa Vidyalaya Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera said.

The Thera said that these religious activities will take place to invoke blessings on Ven. Galboda Gnanissara Thera. A special prayer session will also be held at the conclusion of the eighth South China Sea Buddhism Roundtable for Ven.Gnanissara Thera and the world. Ven.Gnanissara Thera rendered yeomen service for the uplift of Buddhism in the country. The Thera was born on December 14, 1943 and he was ordained in 1959 under the tutelage of Ven.Devundara Rathanajothi Thera.
