Sumanthiran in a media statement said that everyone else who supported and assisted Ratwatte to carry out such a deplorable act should also be taken into custody and legal action taken against them as well.
“It is risky and dangerous that a person who acted in such a manner has a firearm in his possession and immediate steps should be taken to confiscate the pistol issued to him MP Sumanthiran said.
He also said that a case should be filed against the State Minister for misusing a firearm and intimidating persons and violating basic human rights of prisoners.
Sumanthiran also stated that since such a person is not suitable to hold any posts action should be taken to remove the State Minister from his other State Ministry. Sumanthiran said prisoners are in the custody of the government and emphasized that if the Minister in charge of Prisoners himself targets them with death threats and intimidates them, everyone in this country should express their objections and condemn such incidents.
