Retired Senior Police Officers’ Association holds AGM

The 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Retired Senior Police Officers’ Association was held on December 2, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Colombo 5.

Noel Francis, Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and an attorney-at-law was elected unanimously as the 30th President of this Association whilst Chris Obeyesekere, Rtd. DIG was elected as Secretary and Niman Cumarathunga, Rtd. SP, as the Treasurer.

The other office bearers are as follows: Vice Presidents: Nihal Samarakoon, Rtd. DIG and Hyder Anwer, Rtd SSP. Assistant Secretary Ramya Wickramasinghe – Rtd. SSP and Assistant Treasurer – M.R. Latiff, Rtd. Senior DIG,

The Committee members: Immediate Past President Sarath Lugoda, Rtd. DIG, S.S. Navaratnarajah, Rtd. DIG, Gaya Pathikirikorale, Rtd. DIG, Ranjith Perera, Rtd. SSP, Norton De Silva, Rtd. SP, Tudor Dias, Rtd. SSP, Maxie Procter, Rtd DIG, Lakshman Wijeratne, Rtd. DIG, Gamini Karunathilake, Rtd. DIG, S.M. Jayathilake, Rtd SP, Lakshman Bandara, Rtd. SSP, G.D. A. De Fonseka, Rtd. Senior DIG and Charles Sanders, Rtd. SSP.

Many Retired Senior Officers from around the country participated to foster a Spirit of Camaraderie and Esprit – de – Corps. The meeting ended with fellowship and lunch. This organization was started in 1980 and late DIG Sydney De Zoysa, was its founder President, followed by late Inspector General of Police Stanley Senanayake.

Former Inspectors General of Police, late Ana Seneviratne, Rudra Rajasingam and Ernest Perera were among the other senior Police officers who were presidents. This Association is incorporated by Retired Senior Police Officers’ Association (Incorporation) Act No; 3 of 2009.
