Richmond Champions League cricket from December 27 to 29
Richmond College Old Boys Association (RCOBA) will conduct the second edition of the Richmond Champions League T20 Cricket Tournament which is scheduled to be played from December 27 to 29 at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Richmond College’s finest current and past Cricketers will be divided into three teams, namely Team Samuel, Team Hartley and Team Triggs, in this three-day tournament which is the ultimate showdown of past Richmond Cricket Stars in their prime .The presence of National cricket stars produced by College recently will give more glamour to the tournament .
In addition several talented first class cricketers Sithara Gimhan , Amshi de Silva who was adjudged best bowler at the Observer Mobitel school cricket awards ceremony recently , Avindu Theekshana, Dilum Sudeera the former National under 19 leg spinner now plays for Tamil Union, Sandun Mendis who is also a former National under 19 spinner will make their presence to this tournament.
After Lanka Premiere League (LPL) cricket tournament the T -20 ICC number one bowler Wanindu Hasaranga , the prolific stroke maker Charith Asalanka , all rounders Kamindu Mendis and Dhananjaya Lakshan who won the best emerging player at the inaugural LPL are expected to play in this tournament.
Wanindu Hasaranga wi8ll lead Team Hartley while Charith Asalanka and Sithara Gimhan will lead Team Triggs and Team Samuel respectively. The inaugural edition of the Richmond league won by Tem Triggs led by Charith Asalanka defeating Team Samuels by 19 runs last February.
