The lorry that brought food to the elephants of the Ridiyagama Safari was found with a wild boar carcass on September 2 night.
The truck supplying food to the wild elephants of the Ambalantota Ridiyagama Safari Park was found leaving park carrying a dead wild boar hidden under coconut branches.
The truck and two persons carrying it were arrested and handed to the Ambalantota Police for investigation. Officials said that checks are regularly conducted in this manner in the Safari Park and as a result of this, the arrest was made.
However, it has not yet been revealed how this wild boar died and the Ambalantota police are investigating whether it was killed or a dead animal was being taken in this manner.
