Rise in influenza among children – Consultant

Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera said yesterday (2) that reports of  children infected with influenza virus have increased these days. He said that the spread of influenza virus has increased with the rains. He also stated that if any child is infected with the influenza virus, they should seek medical advice immediately.

He also said that if a child under the age of two years is affected by this virus, there may even be a life risk. In addition to this, he said that children’s fever has also increased with the rains and if there is such a symptom, they should seek medical advice immediately.
