Fifth year player, All rounder, Left hand top order bat, Left arm leg spinner, Safe fielder in any position, Captain of the under 15 and 17 teams, Prima Cup player and Presently in the District Team Mellawa Thanthrige Risith Menusha Perera has brought honour and glory to his alma mater St.Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa with his deeds in the field of Cricket.

Menusha who hails from Bangadeniya Chilaw was born on March 29 2004 and in 2015 he was admitted to St.Joseph Vaz College and in the same year his parents Maximus Perera and Thushari Priyangika Perera made arrangements to admit their son to the School Cricket Academy and he came under Nuwan Ruchira and Mr.Indika and in the same year he got the opportunity to represent the under 13 team and he played in five matches and he got a half century and in the following year he was the Vice Captain and scored 385 runs with two fifties. With these performances under his belt he was a unanimous choice for the under 15 team and in his first year he got 180 runs with a century versus Maliyadeva College and took eight wickets and in his second year he was appointed the Captain and collected 230 runs with a fifty and under his able leadership they were the All Island under 15 joint Champions with St.Anthoney’s College Kandy and he was selected to the Puttalam District Team followed by the North Western Province Team and his Coach was Mr.Amila Sampath.

He had to forego the under 17 tournament due to Corona and in the next year he Captained the under 17 team and in five outings he scored 131 runs. As an under 15 player he was selected to the first eleven team in 2018/19 season and came under Tharanga Liyanapathirana and Vishva Deemantha and the teacher in Charge is Mrs.Sureka Dilhani and the Prefect of Games is Gemunu Kumara. In his first year he scored 170 runs and captured 54 wickets with two five wicket hauls and the bets match bag was 9 for 66 versus De Mazoned College.

In his second year he played in five Limited Over matches and bagged 14 scalps with 5 for 20 against Ananda College. In 2021/22 season he played for the Big Match and the Limited Over game against their arch rivals St.Mary’s College Chilaw and his new Coach is Omila Wickramasinghe and Presently he is a member of the Puttalam District Squad and his Principal Rev.Fr.Priyanjeeva Gunaratne is very supportive for their cricket.
