Rizwan and Shakeel rescue Pakistan after early collapse
Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored 68 runs each as Pakistan scored 286 all out in 49 overs in their world cup cricket fixture against Netherlands played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad yesterday
Pakistan invited to bat first but their top order were struggling at 38 for 3 wickets in 9.1 overs.
The openers Fakhar Zaman (12), Imam Ul Haq (15) and skipper Babar Azam ( 5) were back in the pavilion early but Rizwan the wicket keeper and Saud Shakeel build up their innings adding a 120-run 4th wicket stand which was the most successful stand.
Rizwan scored 68 in 75 balls with 8 fours while Shakeel made 68 in 52 balls with 9 fours and a six in an aggressive knock. Mohammed Nawaz scored 39 in 43 balls with 4 fours but was unfortunately run out while all rounder Sadab Khan hit 32 in 34 balls with 2 boundaries and a six.
The 23 year old Bas de Leede was the most successful bowler taking 4 for 63 in his 9 over spell while Colin Ackerman took 2 for 39.
Netherlands led by Scott Edwards has to bat yesterday night in this Hyderabad and they had to bat 287 runs target under Pakistan tough bowling attack.
Pakistan named three top pacemen Shaheen Afridi,Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf for this game while Sadab Khan the key spinner with Ifthikar Ahmed and Mohammed Nawaz were included to strengthen the bowling attack.
