Investigations have revealed that Dana Dees Campbell, an officer of the US Department of Defence working at the US Embassy in Colombo, was robbed of her handbag by men on a motorcycle stolen from Kohuwala.
A senior police officer said that the motorcycle was stolen near a pharmacy in Kohuwala.
Investigations have revealed that before stealing this motorcycle, he had stolen a motorcycle from Piliyandala and abandoned the motorcycle at Kohuwala.
This information was revealed during the investigation by examining security cameras.
A senior police officer said that the robbers who rode this stolen motorcycle and robbed the handbag of the US Embassy officer wore shoes and t-shirts and they also identified several filling stations where they got fuel for the motorcycle. It has been found that these two robbers roam around Kohuwala, Nugegoda and Piliyandala areas. The incident had taken place when the officer was walking towards her apartment in the Cinnamon Gardens police division on October 29th evening. She has said that her mobile phone, credit card and Rs.20,000 cash were in the bag when the robbery took place.
