Rock from another planet stolen from Ministry official’s house
The Western Province Crime Division yesterday said that two persons who entered the house of a Justice Ministry Assistant Secretary in Rajagiriya and stolen property worth nearly Rs. 30 million were arrested.
Police said that the two arrested suspects have been identified as ‘Kahantota Podda’ and ‘Battaramullae Ataya’ who had been involved in a number of crimes.
During the questioning of the suspects, pearls and gold jewellery that had been stolen in this way, a gold pendant with diamond stones that was allegedly purchased from an American company for a high price, and a gold pendant that was allegedly purchased from Japan and a type of rock belonging to another planet has been taken into police custody
The Assistant Secretary had complained to the Welikada Police in this regard, and after complaining to the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Provinces Deshabandu Tennakoon, the matter was referred to the Western Province Crime Division for investigation.
According to a confidential information received by the officer Ranjith, the two suspects were arrested while travelling in a three-wheeler near a temple in Rajagiriya Kalapaluwawa, Mandawala Police said.
