Ronald George Stephen (Junior) former cricketer and soccer player of St.Anthonys’ College,Katugastota passed away on 25th October at the age of 87. Ronald was a past cricket captain of the Antonian cricket team for four years from 1951 to 1954 and he was the only Antonian to hold two centuries, one in the ‘Big Match’ against Trinity college. He shared a first wicket partnership with A.C.Lafir (276 runs) for the opening stand which is unbroken to date and stands as a record of Sri Lanka Schools Cricket. He played soccer for the school as a left half with many

championships for five years among Central Province schools and he was awarded a trophy for the ‘Best left Half’ in the school by then Mayor of Kandy, E.L.Senanayake. His funeral took place on October 27 at the Crematorium of Mahaiyawa Cemetery, Kandy.
