Twenty year old, R.Roshan Sajith, an old boy of Gassara Lanka Maha Vidyalaya, Galle is a talented Athlete at School level and a Weightlifter at National Level who was involved in Athletics only at School level.

First he started Athletics in running events such as 100, 200 metre races and 4 x 100 Relay events in his school career from the year 2005 to 2007 representing Tissa House of the School at the Inter House Sports Meet through-out these years. He won the 100 & 200 metre races and Relay events at the Baddegama Education Circuit Meets representing his School, and the other members in the Relay team were Laxman,Sajith and Thilina.

After leaving School getting through his O/L examination he joined the Sri Lanka Army in 2007 and started Weightlifting and continued to Liftin date under the coaching of Athula Wijewickrema, International Weightglifting Coach. After a few months of training he improved his talent in weight lifting and won the first event by lifting 97 Kg. in Snatch and 112 Kg. in Clean & Jerk lifting a total of 209 Kgs. and he received the ‘Best Lifters’ award.

The next year he won the Novices title lifting 88 Kg. in Snatch and 78 Kg.in clean & jerk lifting a full total of 218 Kgs. and again he was adjudged the ‘Best Lifter’ of the Meet.

In the year 2014 he went on to win the Sri lanka Army Inter Unit meet in the 62 Kg. Weight class lifting 105 Kgs. In Snatch and lifting 125 Kg. in Clean and Jerk with a full total of 230 Kgs.

In the same year he secured the second place in 62 Kg. Weight class lifting 106 Kg.in snatch and 125 Kg. in clean and jerk and a total of 234 Kgs,. In 2015 he won lifting 108 in snatch and 130 Kg. in clean & jerk with a full total of 238 Kgs. in the National Sports Festival. In 2016 he came second in 62 Kg. weight class by lifting 108 Kg in Snatch and 130 Kg.in clean & jerk and the full total was 238 Kg.

In 2017 at the National Sports Festival Meet he secured the second place lifting

108 Kg. in snatch and 132 Kg. in clean & Jerk lifting a full total of 240 Kg. in 62 Kg. weight class. in 2019 he went to Lebanon as a member of the Peace Corp. and he was prevented from joining in weightlifting contests for some time and after returning back to Sri Lanka he continued weight lifting and won class in a higher weight class of 69 Kg lifting 108 Kg. in Snatch and 132 Kg. in clean and Jerk in a full total of 240 Kgs.
