Royal Palms Beach Hotel, Kalutara to see Five-Star soon
The Royal Palms hotel went through a refurbishment drive before reopening after the COVID pandemic on 2022 January 1, 2022, where public areas, rooms and large gardens were revitalized.
The only Japanese restaurant in the region, serving over 100 different kinds of dishes was rebranded and re-opened along with the Down South’s newest sizzling hot spot, Tropics Bar and Grill, Cabana Restaurant offering authentic Sri Lankan beach cuisine for lunch and dinner.
“We may also look at building a special safety area in the sea with the assistance of the Coast Conservation Board allowing a larger swimming area for guests in the sea allowing us to introduce water sports facilities as well,” said General Manager Ravi Kurukulasuriya.
Built in 1999 by the Tangerine Group of Hotels after opening Nilaveli Beach Hotel in 1971, Tangerine Beach Hotel, Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya Royal Palms today offers 129 rooms with 9 executive suites branded as HERITAGE, EXECUTIVE, ROYAL, PENTHOUSE and as RAJASTHAN ROYAL SUITES.
The hotel also offers one of the largest swimming pools in the area and provides many other recreation facilities that includes a gym, billiards and other indoor games, floodlit tennis courts, table tennis, volleyball, squash and beach game, swim-up bar, jacuzzi beauty salon, mini shopping arcade and a spa. Royal Palms also has a one of the most sought after banquets halls offering facilities for 250 guests and is also popular for hosting corporate day outings. Starting at Kandalama Hotel, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management from Switzerland and working in multiple four and five star hotels Kurukulasuriya, said that their main market is tourists from Europe and East Europe and due to availability of fuel local arrivals are increasing during the weekend.
