Royal College took major honours in their Under 19 Inter-School game against Ananda College which ended in a draw at Ananada Mawatha yesterday.

The morning session of day two was interrupted by heavy rain yesterday while Anandians made 332 for 9 at close in reply to Royal’s first innings of 404 for 4 wickets declared on the first day.

Nusal Dharmaratne (41), Netma Karunaratne (69), Hansaja Jayasinghe (49) and Pulindu Kiriella (54 n.o.) made useful knocks to build up Ananda’s total. Royal all-rounder and National Youth captain Sadisha Rajapaksa who scored a brilliant knock of 166, performed brilliantly with the ball taking 2 for 84. Opener/part-time off-spinner Sineth Jayawardena scored 95 and finished 2 for 5 in his 4-over spell.

Royal spinner and leg spinner Gishan Balasooriya was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 79 in his 30-over spell.

Meanwhile, the match between Isipatana and Prince of Wales’ ended in a draw at Moratuwa while Nalanda scored 174 for 6 wickets at close in their match against Thurstan which was played at Campbell Place yesterday.
