Rs.2,000 allowance granted in systematic manner – Minister

Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of Defence, Disaster Management and Home Affairs Chamal Rajapaksa on Tuesday said the list of persons eligible to receive the Rs.2,000 allowance granted by the Government has already been prepared.

The Government started granting an allowance of Rs.2,000 to the families whose livelihood was affected due to the imposition of Quarantine Curfew in the country for 10 days beginning from midnight on August 20.

Minister Chamal Rajapaksa said that the Divisional Secretaries have been instructed to provide this allowance to all the people who have lost their livelihoods in a systematic manner without any irregularities.

“All District Secretariats and Divisional Secretariats throughout the country have made preparations to provide this allowance,” the Minister said.

“The relevant lists have been prepared by the Divisional Secretaries,” he said.

The Minister said that this allowance will be given to the relevant persons with the assistance of Grama Niladharis, Samurdhi Development Officers and Development Officers.
