Rs. 3.5 Mn robbery attempt foiled
The Police said that an attempt by a four member gang to rob Narcotics Bureau officers of nearly Rs.3.5 million on Badu Villa Road in Kindelpitiya was foiled with one of the PNB members firing into the air. PNB officials have succeeded in arresting one of the gang members.
Police said the suspect was attached to the Civil Security Department. A motorbike and machete belonging to the suspect have also been taken into custody.
PNB officials have received information from Army officials attached to Boosa camp that a buyer is sought for the sale of ICE worth Rs 3.5 million.
Accordingly, PNB and intelligence officials who provided the information have reached the Kindelpitiya area.
When they reached Kidelpitiya, a gang of four men reached them and tried to rob them.
The PNB officials had then fired into the air and three out of four gang members escaped on motorbike.
