Rs. 3,101 Bn tax revenue target set for IRD, Customs and Excise this year

President’s Director General (Government Revenue) M. J. Gunasiri says the Government tax revenue target of Rs.3,101 billion  for this year should be achieved. He said the tax revenue this year so far was Rs.1,711 billion.

The Inland Revenue Department’s target this year is Rs.1,667 billion.They have so far collected Rs.797 billion, Gunasiri said. The Customs and Excise departments have given revenue collection targets exceeding the previous year’s targets, he added.

The two institutions have been given a revenue target of Rs.1,390 billion for this year.
