Rs. 7.5 Mn stolen at gunpoint from furniture store
Meegoda Police stated that two persons armed with firearms broke into a furniture store at the 20th Mile Post in Meegoda and robbed about Rs.7.5 million in a period of three minutes.
The police say that the robbers who came on a motorcycle wore helmets and masks to cover their faces.
The police say that the robbery took place while the shop owners were making payments to the businessmen who supply the furniture.
The investigation has revealed that the person who broke in with the firearm took an employee from the lower floor and broke into the place where the cashiers were and took the money from the safe and fled towards Godagama on a motorcycle with other suspects.
The Meegoda Police and Western Province South District Crime Division are conducting investigations through the CCTV footage.
