Fifteen-year-old right hand opening bat and district Under 19 poolist, wicketkeeper and right arm reserve off-spinner Ruchith Hansana Rodrigo has brought honour and fame to his school President’s College Maharagama. He was born on 23rd January 2006 and admitted to the Grade One of this college in 2012.
When he was in Grade Five he participated in the inter-house annual athletics sports meet and came first in 80 meters and second in 100 meters and third in the long jump. In 2016 his parents Chamara Rodrigo and Ganga Nayani Wijerathne handed over their son to the school under 13 cricket coaches Shammi Hettiarachchi and Mr. Naradha and in his first year in the under 13 he passed the 100 mark and in his second year he got 150 runs and in 2018 he scored 194 runs with two half centuries and claimed 11 victims in five outings and he captained the team in 2019.
In 2019, he passed the 100 mark and took 9 victims behind the stumps and he was not able to play in the under 15 due to Covid-19 and in the inter-school under 19 knockout tournament as the Baby of the Team and he scored one 50 with the help of his coach Mr. Besil and he has got selected to the under 19 District Pool under the district coach Ajith Weerasinghe.
