Marking a first in Sri Lanka, National Television ‘Rupavahini’ on May 5 presented a Sinhala news programme using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Expanding the use of AI in news telecasting the ‘Rupavahini’ on May 10 used AI technology in its Tamil prime time news bulletin, also a first in Sri Lanka.
The Rupavahini using AI technology used replicas of leading TV anchors, C.B.M.Shiyam and Theeba Dharshani during their news telecast.
A major portion of the news telecast was presented in this manner bringing the latest experience of AI technology to the audience. This broadcast was produced by Gamini Bandara Menikdiwela under the guidance of National Television Chairman Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe and on the direction of News Director Indika Marasinghe. The TV station expects to present new experiences to the people by utilising this technology in the future.
