S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike’s 65th commemoration ceremony held

The 65th commemoration ceremony of the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike was held at the Bandaranaike Samadhi, Horagolla under the patronage of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Sunethra Bandaranaike yesterday (26).

Mahanayake of Ramanna Maha Nikaya Most Ven. Makulewe Wimala Thera administered the Panchaseelaya. Anunayake Thera of Malwatte Chapter Most Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera, Anunayake of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Wedaruwe Upali Thera and Sabaragamuwa University Chancellor Ven. Prof. Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera and Chief Incumbent of Attanagalle Rajamaha Viharaya Ven. Pannila Ananda Thera were also present.

The 24th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and 16th death anniversary of former Speaker Anura Bandaranaike were also commemorated on this occasion.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike placed the floral tributes at the Samadhi followed by Sunethra Bandaranaike. Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, former MPs G. L. Peiris, Mahinda Amaraweera, Duminda Dissanayake, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Susil Premajayantha were among the present.
