Sachini a fine cricketer from St. Anthony’s Girls School

Twenty one year old, Sachini Dayaratne is an Old Girl of St.Anthonys’ Girls School, Katugastota and a talented Cricketer of the School who Captained the Cricket Team in the year 2019. Sachini took over the captaincy from Sanduni Weerasinghe, a fine all-round cricketer of the School. Sachini started her cricket career in 2012 under the coaching of Susantha Basnayake, a Level II Cricket Coach and she claimed Five wickets for Twenty runs against Pindeniya Central School in the All Island Division. II Cricket Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association. Sachini was adjudged the ‘Best Girls Cricketer in 2016 and 2017 at the Cricket tournament organized by the Departmentt. of Education, Kandy. She scored 100 runs in Four matches with a highest score being 40 runs against Galewela Central school in 2016 while she scored 120 runs with the highest being 36 runs against Mahamaya Girls’ School,Kandy in 2017 and in 2018 she was adjudged the ‘Best player’ in the ‘Big Match’ against Nugawela Central when she scored 47 runs and was selected to the Development Squad of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Sachini scored her first century against Nuwara Eliya district when she scored 102 and she went up on the ladder of success when she scored a fine double in a Div. Two tournament match when she took Four wickets against Pelawatte Navodya Vidyalaya in 2019. She had an all-round performance against Maliyadewa Girls’ School,Kurunegala and scored 47 runs and claimed

four wickets for 35 runs as a right hand batswoman and a right arm off-spinner.

Sachini led the side to become third in the Girls Schools Cricket tournament and received a promotion to play in the Division. One Girls Cricket Tournament from 2019 and she is thankful to her coach, Susantha Basnayake for the guidance given to her. She has got through the GCE (A /L) and at present she is at Sri Jayawardenapura University to follow a course in B’Com and she is intending to continue cricket at club level.
