Seventeen year old, Sadhil Nethaka Ranaweera, is a Grade Twelve student of Trinity College, Kandy in the Mathematics stream and an all-round sportsman of the School. He is an outstanding swimmer as well as a talented athlete and he was a rugby player at School level.

Sadhil started Swimming from Grade One onwards. His favourite event in swimming is Breast Stroke and he was adjudged the ‘Best Sportsman’ at the Junior & Middle School for his outstanding performances in swimming and apart from this he was able to win the Central Province 50, 100 & 200 Metre Breast Stroke event from 2013 to date.

From 2017 onwards he represented the School at the All Island School Meets and secured the third place in the Breast Stroke at the All Island Schools Swimming Meet and in the following year in 2018 he secured the third place at the same event at the Age Group All Island Swimming Meet.

In 2017 he started Athletics under the Coaching of Lalith Ratnayake, veteran Athletic Coach of the School. At the start Sadhil won both 800 & 1500 Metre races at the Central Province Athletic Meet from 2019 up to date. In addition he came first in 800 & 1500 Metre races at the All Island Athletic Meet and this year he continued his winning spree becoming first in 1500 Metre race and second in 800 Metre race at the Milo Trophy Athletic Meet held at Kegalle. Apart from that at the Junior National Athletic Meet he came first in the 1500 Metre race and 2nd in the 800 Metre race held at the Sugathadasa Stadium,Colombo recently.

Sadhil played rugby at School level representing Campbell House at the Inter House Rugby tournament from 2012 to 2018 and he played as Full back. He is thankful to all his Coaches and his ambition is to improve both Swimming and Athletics to the International Level while doing higher studies.
