All rounder Sadisha Rajapaksha made an unbeaten match-winning knock of 69, as Royal College recorded an eight-wicket win at the 45th Mustangs Trophy encounter last Saturday at the SSC grounds.

It was a superb batting performance by National under 19 cricketer Rajapaksa who used his experience to reach their victory target with 7.3 overs to spare. S. Thomas’ skipper Ryan Fernando won the toss and elected to bat first at the SSC wicket but they were contained to 190 for 8 wickets in 50 overs with two half centuries hit by Mahith Perera (52n.o) and Muizz Naushan (50) to build up their innings.Skipper Ryan Fernando also had a useful knock of 30 while off spinner Sadisha Rajapaksa and Damith Kappagoda took two wickets each to contain the Thomians.

Royal chasing their target of 191 runs Sadisha Rajapaksha and Uvindu Weerasekara played with confidence and this pair shared a 66-run partnership for the third wicket to seal the victory with 7.3 overs to spare with eight wickets in hand to clinch the Mustangs Trophy for the 23rd time.
