Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday filed a fundamental rights petition before the Supreme Court seeking an order directing the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) and relevant authorities to reduce the electricity tariffs.
The PUCSL, the CEB, Power and Energy Minister and the Ministry Secretary among others have been named as respondents. It is stated in the petition that it was decided to increase the electricity charges recently.
The petition also requests that the authorities be ordered to submit all documents related to the revision of electricity tariffs to the Court and to submit the audit reports of the CEB to the Court.
