Sajith seeks Russian support to re-build economy

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa greatly appreciated the decades long friendship between Sri Lanka and Russia and thanked the Russian Government for extending its strong support and cooperation, especially at a time when the country is facing a severe economic crisis.

The Opposition Leader made these remarks during his recent meeting with the Ambassador to the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka Yuri B. Materiy at the Opposition Leader’s office in Colombo. During the meeting, Premadasa and the Russian Ambassador had extensive discussions on several important issues related to Sri Lanka’s current economic crisis and sought Russia’s assistance and co-operation in re-building our economy.

Premadasa also highlighted the current progress of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and valued the arrivals of large numbers of Russian tourists to our country. He said Russian tourist arrivals to our country not only helps develop the economy but also helps people involved in the tourism industry in a major way. The Opposition Leader also requested the Russian Ambassador to encourage his country’s tour operators to bring more tourists to our country which would be a great boost to the economy.
