Samurdhi Bank robbed at gunpoint

Two persons carrying firearms broke into a Samurdhi Bank in Pitipana, Homagama, and stole around Rs. 700,000, Homagama Police said.

As of yesterday (19), no suspect had been taken into custody in relation to the theft.

The two individuals, wearing full-face helmets, came on a motorcycle, threatened the employees and customers, stole the money from the safe and fled. The robbery took place a few minutes after money was placed in the safe, and the Police suspect that someone who had inside knowledge of the bank has committed the theft.

The Police also said that the suspects went towards Talagala after the robbery.

Nugegoda Division Crime Scene Investigation Department has started investigations.
