Sanjeewa Rasanga a talented cricketer and a coach
He was born on 21st November 1978 and admitted initially to Piyathissa Maha Vidyalaya, Nuwara Eliya and was there up to grade eight but there were no sports activities in this school during those days. From there he had a small stint with Jayanthi Vidyalaya, Ja Ela.
As Rasanga was interested in cricket his parents Hemarathna Bandara andG. K. Pathmini admitted there son to St. Xavier’s College Nuwara Eliya in 1992 and in the same year he came under Shantha Soysa and his Prefect fo Games was Saman Priyalal. In the under 15 first year it self he passed the 300 mark with two half centuries and in the following year he scored more than 500 runs with a century and three fifties and claimed 16 scalps.In the under 17 first year he reached the 600 mark with two centuries and two fifties and his last year he passed 400 mark with two fifties and captured 18 wickets. After leaving school he joined the Green Field Cricket Club and played for the Daily News Trophy for three years. He formed his own club Royal Cricket Club Wattala and for more than a decade they are playing in the Daily News Trophy and he also has captained the team.
In addition he is a level one coach and he has coached the under 13 team of Bandaranayake Vidyalaya Gampaha, Dr. Kulasinghe Vidyalaya Udammita in all ages and currently St. Sebastian’s College, Kandana as Head Coach and his own academy at Hunupitiya, Wattala.
