The Police Western Province North Crime Division has found several firearms during the interrogation of underworld criminal Makilangamuwe Sanjeewa, who was arrested while coming from Kathmandu, Nepal and is currently being held at the Weerangula Police Station.
Firearms were first found on September 15 from a cemetery in Nittambuwa following information given by Sanjeewa.
Among those firearms, a micro type pistol, two hand grenades, a revolver, a pistol grip and 43 rounds of ammunition used for T-56 weapons were found.
About a week later, a T-56 weapon was found again based on his revelations. Apart from that, as of yesterday (1), no other weapon had been found based on his information.
Sanjeewa has revealed many details in response to inquiries.
Police information revealed that even the information about the people who were in contact with him has been disclosed.
When Sanjeewa came to Sri Lanka from Nepal, he had left his mobile phone in the plane.
Later, the mobile phone was found. Police information revealed that information about the people who were in contact with him is emerging from the investigations done through that phone.
