Sathasivam and Daluwatte clinch Prima Open Junior Golf Titles

Jevahn Sathasivam showcased remarkable mental toughness and golfing finesse to secure the boys’ title at the Sri Lanka Prima Junior Open Tournament. Leading throughout all three days, Sathasivam clinched victory with a final day’s score of 70 and an aggregate of 210. Meanwhile, seasoned player Kaya Daluwatte continued her winning streak, claiming the girls’ title for the third consecutive year with a final day gross score of 75 in the Girls Tournament sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread in a thrilling conclusion at the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday.

Yannik Kumara maintained his second position throughout the tournament, closing with a score of 77 on the final day. Reshan Algama displayed exceptional golf on day two and three, securing the third position with an aggregate gross score of 221 after overcoming challenges on the first day.

In the girls’ division, Sherine Balasooriya’s improved performance on the third day, with a score of 74, secured her second position. Aaliyah Laiza Achary claimed the third spot with a gross score of 77, showing improvement from the first two days.

As expected, Adhithya Weerasinghe returned a score of 80 to claim the Silver Division winner’s prize. Keshav Algama and Kaiyen Johnpillai secured second and third place with aggregate gross scores of 233 and 239, respectively.

Keya Abhayaratne, the overnight leader in the girls’ Silver Division, asserted her dominance, claiming the first place with an aggregate gross score of 291.

In the Bronze Division, Anuradhapura’s Lavidu Premaratne scored an impressive gross score of 65, an aggregate of 184, beating Udeera Bandara by a clear margin of 18 shots over three rounds. Yehansa Senanayake secured the third position with an aggregate score of 207.

The girls’ division saw a close battle between two Indian sisters. Bhavika Unni outperformed her sister Avighna Unni by one shot, winning the Bronze Division Girls’ prize. Kaitlyn Norton secured the third place with an aggregate score of 209.

In the boys’ Copper Division, overnight leader Revaan Amarasinghe fended off a challenge from Indian Vivaan Singh to win by two shots with an aggregate of 112. Danik Daluwatte played exceptionally on the last day to secure the third position with an aggregate gross score of 128.

In the Girls Copper Division, India’s Aastha P Rao claimed the title with a substantial 20-stroke gap. Vihara Herath of Anuradhapura secured the second spot with 143, and India’s Aashna Amogha finished third with a gross score of 150.

The 15th edition of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Amateur Golf Championship, a significant world-ranking tournament, was organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union and Junior Sub Committee. The event was proudly sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread and concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.
