Lanka Sathosa has lowered the prices of some essential consumer food items that are sold to the public to provide relief in view of the upcoming Vesak festival from yesterday (22).
On the instructions of the Trade, Commerce and Food Security Ministry, Lanka Sathosa which is the only state owned supermarket chain has decided to reduce the prices of these essential food items.
A kilo of dried fish (Thai) has been reduced by Rs.145 and the new price is Rs. 950.
The price of a kilo of big onions (Indian) has been reduced by Rs.40 and its new price is recorded as Rs.250.
The price of chickpeas (big) has been reduced by Rs.38 and its new price is Rs.450.
Also, the new reduced price of a kilo of white sugar is Rs. 275. All the essential food items with their reduced prices can be bought from any of the Sathosa outlets established countrywide.
