The Alighar National School Grounds witnessed exhilarating football action as Sathuliya Vidyalaya, Brainthuraichenai emerged victorious in the Boys’ category, and Kalaimagal Vidyalaya, Ampilathurai secured the Women’s Championship title in the Batticaloa District tournament in the SAMAPOSHA Trophy Under-14 Football Championships 2023.

The thrilling final match of the Boys’ Championship featured a nail-biting clash between Sathuliya, Brainthuraichenai Vidyalaya and Palamunai Alighar Maha Vidyalaya in Kattankudy. The young talents displayed their skills, determination, and teamwork, captivating the enthusiastic crowd.

The match ended in a tense draw, resulting in a penalty shootout to determine the winner. The players exhibited nerves of steel as they stepped up to take the crucial spot-kicks. In the end, Brainthuraichenai Sathuliya Vidyalaya held their composure and secured a hard-fought victory with a scoreline of 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

The Boys’ Championship in the Batticaloa District saw fierce competition among 12 participating teams, making the tournament a display of raw talent and passion for the sport. The teams that took part included Eravur Alighar

National School ‘A’ and ‘B’, Kattankudy Central College ‘A’ and ‘B’, Eravur Rahamaniya Vidyalaya, Brainthuraichenai Sathuliya ‘A’ & ‘B’, Kakayanodai Al Aqsha Vidyalaya, Palamunai Alighar Vidyalaya, Ampilathurai Kalaivani Vidyalaya, Kattumuri GTMS, and Maccan Makkar National School.

In the Women’s Championship, Kalaimagal Vidyalaya, Ampilathurai Eravur, and Kattumuri GTMS were the two teams that vied for the title. Despite the limited number of participants, the intensity and passion on the field were palpable.

Kalaimagal Vidyalaya, Ampilathurai displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the tournament, and their hard work paid off as they emerged as the champions, claiming victory over Kattumuri GTMS.
