King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia recently announced that Saudi Arabia will be offering 1,000 free Umrahs to Muslims worldwide, including Sri Lankans, in 2024.

“He will personally sponsor the pilgrimage to Holy Makkah, arranging transportation to Madinah and all necessary accommodation. This generous gesture has garnered global appreciation,” M.H. Shehudeen Madani, Director, Al Hikma Welfare Association, Colombo, issuing a statement, said.

Annually, King Salman grants free Hajj and Umrah to tens of thousands, including the underprivileged, intellectuals, and individuals of varying social status. This longstanding tradition in Saudi Arabia continues to be upheld by the country’s rulers.

King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, personally sponsors numerous Muslims worldwide each year for both Hajj and Umrah. These pilgrims are treated as VIPs, invited to Holy Makkah as special guests, with the King ensuring all necessary facilities for their pilgrimage.

Prince Muhammad bin Salman, accompanied by the Minister of Islamic Culture, Ash Shaikh Abdul Latif Al Shaikh, is part of this endeavour.

The global community widely appreciates King Salman’s generous contributions. His annual substantial donations extend not only to Muslims worldwide, but also hold a special focus on supporting the affected people of Palestine.

This commitment includes providing thousands of Hajjs and Umrahs annually.
