SC to take up Salley FR case on Oct 15

The Supreme Court has granted approval to consider the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley.

The FR petition will be taken up for consideration on October 15 before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Justices S. Thurairajah and Yasantha Kodagoda.

Azath Salley was remanded again on charges of having ties with the suspects implicated in the incident where several Buddhist statues were destroyed in Mawanella. Azath Salley was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
