The Havelock Sports Club has welcomed two exceptional school players, Sudesh Jayawickrama and Jayathu Rajarathna, for the upcoming Sri Lanka Club Rugby League season, set to kick off in early December.
Sudesh Jayawickrama, a former captain of St Peter’s College, emerged as a standout player in the recently concluded Dialog School Rugby Season. He was pivotal in securing victories as the Player of the Final for the Double Champions, St Peter’s College, showcasing his skills as a Centre.
Meanwhile, Jayathu Rajarathna, the former skipper of DS Senanayake College, showcased exceptional talent as a Winger during his school rugby tenure. Their inclusion in the Havelock Sports Club lineup for the 2023/24 season is anticipated to significantly bolster the team.
The Park Club, which secured the runners-up position three years ago, has high hopes for a strong performance in the upcoming season with the addition of these talented players. With the guidance of their new coach, former Sri Lanka scrum half Saliya Kumara, the team aims to excel. Kumara previously coached the Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club, leading them to the Runners-up position in the last season of the Clifford Cup.
The addition of Jayawickrama and Rajarathna alongside the leadership of Coach Saliya Kumara marks an exciting chapter for the Havelock Sports Club as they ready for the forthcoming season.
