The Lunugamwehera Police have launched a special investigation to take into custody an employee of the Lunugamwehera Wildlife Office, who had allegedly assaulted a young man and a woman, undergoing training at the Youthcorps Lunugamwehera Training Centre.
The assault had taken place based on a conflict that had arisen due to a telephone call. The young man and woman who were victims of the assault had lodged a complaint with the Lunugamwehera Police and have been admitted to the Lunugamwehera Rural Hospital for treatment. Hospital authorities said that neither of them are in a serious condition.
The two members of the youth corps who were assaulted are Edirisinghe Siriwardena Amrita Pebasara and Sinha Arachchige Shyamini Dilsara.
The young man had been assaulted opposite the Youthcorps Training Centre on the evening of May 15 while the young woman had been attacked on the same day at the Lunugamwehera 22 junction.
