“Security forces will be withdrawn from the Mihintale sacred site”

State Minister of Defense Pramitha Bandara Thennakone said in Parliament today that all the security forces will be withdrawn from the Mihintala sacred site.

The Minister also stated that this decision was taken based on a statement made by the Chief Incumbent Thero of Mihintala Rajamaha Viharaya and also the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa which claimed the placement of the security forces in the Mihintala sacred site is a threat to the life of Chief Incumbent Thero of Mihintala Rajamaha Viharaya.
