Aiming to form a law-abiding state service, the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Sri Lanka Bar Association and Ratnapura Bar Association jointly organized a series of legal seminars and legal aid camps parallel to ‘National Law Week 2023’.
The first seminar was held at the provincial council auditorium in Ratnapura under the chairmanship of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya recently.
At this seminar, various programmes related to maintaining a law-abiding public service were implemented.
Lectures were held on the legal issues that a public official should be concerned about when making an administrative decision, laws and issues related to the Right to Information Act and Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 and how public officials should act in a legal framework. Free legal advice was also given to the participants who were mainly state officials in the provincial service.
Provincial Public Service Commission Secretary E.K.A. Sunitha, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Deputy Chief Secretary (Administration) Dilini Dharmadasa, President’s Councilor U.R. De Silva, Sri Lanka Bar Association President Senior Advocate Kaushal Navaratne, Ratnapura Bar Association Secretary Senior Advocate Sanath Perera, National Law Week 2023 Committee Member Advocate Pandula Vanniarachchi and others were present.
