Senuk Rehan a karate star in the making
School Karate Champion, Brown Belt holder, Gold Medalist in Kata and Kumite in the under eight and nine age groups and award winner at the school Colours Nite 2021 Senuk Rehan Uhas has brought honour and immense glory for his alma mater Asoka Vidyalaya Colombo in the field of Karate. Senuk who hails from Kotikawatte, Mulleriya New Town was born on April 12 2010 and initially admitted to Mahinda Primary Vidyalaya in 2016 and when he
was in grade one he showed an interest in Karate and his Parents Dilun Ranga and Tharanga Kumari Ranasinghe handed over their son to Mr. Nishantha. He was at Mahinda Vidyalaya for a short period and drafted to Asoka Vidyalaya
His first attempt was in 2016 for the Association of Karate Championship and he grabbed silvers for Kata and Kumite events at the under eight age group and at the Karate Do Federation Western Provincial Meet he came to the Best Eight and received Best Performance for Kata and in the Funa Koshi Challenge Cup Karate Meet he won two silvers for Kata and Kumite and at the International Shotokan Karate Do Championship Meet once again he won two silvers for Kata and Kumite.
His first meet in 2017 was Sri Lanka Schools Karate Do Association under eight age category and he reached up to Best Eight and at the Sri Lanka Karate Do Colombo District Meet he was adjudged as the under eight Best Player and at the Western Province Karate Do Federation Meet he won the Best Player’s Award for Kata and at Sri Lanka Karate Nationals too he grabbed the Excellent Award for Kata and in the Open Championship he won a Gold for Kata and in the Nipon Karate Do Academy Doshin Kai Tournament he won Bronzes for Kata and Kumite and at the Japan Shotokan Association Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite.
In 2018 as an under eight competitor at the Colombo District Meet he won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the Western Provincial Meet he won silvers for Kata and Kumite and at the Karate Do Federation Meet he collected a Bronze for Kumite and he received the Best Eight in Kata and at the JKF Shotokan Championship he won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the Japan Shotokan.
Championship he won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the Japan Simbukan International Association Meet he won a Silver for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and at the GMAN Shotokan Junior Open Meet he won a Gold for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata.
In 2019 once again as an under nine player at the Inter Schools Karate Meet he won a Bronze for Kata and at the Asoka Vidyalaya Inter House Tournament he won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the Nippon Karate Tournament he won Golds for Kata and Kumite and at the Karate Do Kyouryuku Kai Tournament he won Golds for Kumite and Kata and at the Hanszi Mushi Kaumi Tournament he won a Silver for Kumite and Bronze for Kata and at the Western Karate Do
Federation Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and finally in 2019 at the Sri Lanka Karate Nationals he won a Silver for Kumite.
Once again in 2021 School Colours Nite he carried away the Karate Championship Award as an under 12 competitor at the Sri Lanka Nationals held in Bandaragama he won a Silver for Kumite. Then as a under 13 player in 2022 at the Shotokan Do Federation Meet he won a Gold for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata and in the 2022 Sri Lanka All Island Junior Championship he won Silvers for Kata and Kumite. During the Span of Six years he has won 42 medals which consisted of 21 Golds 15 Silvers and six Bronzes and it is a remarkable achievement indeed.
