A series of discussions were held earlier this month between KCHT Energy Private Ltd, Sri Lanka and several Ministers to proceed with the development project of installing 100,000 houses of low income families (on grant basis with 110 KW) with rooftop solar. This would be a USD 1 billion project to be implemented in seven districts, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Matara, Trincomalee, Monaragala, Galle and Hambantota.

The project will also create over 100, 000 new employment opportunities.

The mentor behind this project Chairman, KCHT Holding Korea, Sae Moo Jang and Sri Lankan Representative and Chief coordinating Officer of KCHT Energy Lanka, Col. (Rtd.) R. R. J.W. Jayakody said that this ground breaking project will see the FREE installation of 5 KWh solar generating panels to each home thus generating 500 MW to the national grid.

Chief Coordinating Officer of KCHT Energy Lanka, R. R. J.W. Jayakody also met Minister Namal Rajapaksa and Advisor Upul Dissanayake and outlined the project to the duo. The project also includes a 10% battery back facility enabling them to offer electricity to all district hospitals, universities, college of education and stadiums.
