Sessions of Advanced Residency Program on Leadership in Parliament held
Sessions of the Advanced Residency Program on Leadership in Parliament for Clerks and Officials organized by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the Parliament of Sri Lanka commenced in Colombo following the inauguration held on the 10th
About 40 Parliamentary officials from 15 Commonwealth countries including India, Pakistan, The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia are taking part in this residential training program, currently ongoing in Colombo starting from the 11th and will continue till the 14th of this month.
Upon the initiation by Mr. Matthew Salik, Head of Program CPA Headquarters Secretariat, various sessions and mentoring took place on personal goal setting, opportunities and challenges, personal management, leadership and management skills and cultural intelligence and unconscious biases.
Furthermore, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, Secretary-General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka conducted session for the delegated on personal management. She emphasized on the self-management of parliamentary staff members and focused on how to better manage the wellbeing of oneself whilst balancing work life commitments.
She further outlined several measures taken by the Parliament of Sri Lanka secretariat to ensure the wellbeing of its staff members including health benefits, sports and recreation.
Kate Faragher, Mark Webb, Jack Hardcastle, Avni Khondia and Rafael Gonzales were among other resource persons who conducted various sessions for the Program.
Assistant Secretary General of Parliament of Sri Lanka Mr. Hansa Abeyratne was also present on this occasion.
