Seven cheques stolen from Kollupitiya, one cashed

The Kollupitiya Police have started an investigation regarding a theft of seven cheques from a house in Perahara Mawatha, Colombo 3. One cheque from the seven was cashed by the robbers.

According to Kollupitiya Police, the theft took place Monday (9) between 7.45 am and 9 am. The homeowner is a retired 71 year old. Police said that a check of Rs.124,000 has been transferred from the seven stolen cheques.Police are investigating who transferred this cheque through security camera footage and the National ID number data of the person who transferred the cheque from the bank.
