Seven fishermen arrested with over 4800 kg of illegal Shark fish

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) have arrested seven fishermen along with 4847kg of illegally harvested shark fish, including the Alopias Vulpinus and Carcharhinus Longimanus species, at the Dikovita Fisheries harbour.

According to the SLCG, the stock of shark fish was found concealed in a multi-day fishing vessel at the harbour yesterday (07). 

The fishermen along with the seized consignment of shark fish and fishing vessel were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector’s office in Dikovita for legal proceedings. (Newswire)
