Seven new power projects to add 1,020 Mw to National Grid
Power and Electricity Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has advised officials to expedite the seven new projects with potential, already identified and the other power generating projects, to add 1,020 Megawatts to the National Power Grid from 2027 to 2030.
For the progress evaluation of the progress of the renewable energy projects which are already on, a discussion was held, in the morning, yesterday (20), at the Power and Energy Ministry.
Officers from the Clean Energy Authority also participated. There is a power Generation project planned to fulfill the complete needs of 3,010 families in Ananathivu, Nayanathivu and Delft, already on.
The two floating Solar Panel Projects with the capacity of two Megawatts, the Solar Panel Projects dedicated to serve places of worship, sponsored as Indian Projects, the 100 Megawatt strong Renewable power generating project for Siyambalanduwa, the Renewable power generating project in Pooneryn and Mannar Region and the 1,330 Megawatt Renewable Power Generating Project for Sampur, were discussed there.
The Minister took the seven new projects with the potential, already identified and the other power generating projects , to add 1,020 Megawatts to the National Power Grid for the period from 2027 to2030 drawing the attention to the logistical aspects too.
When touching on green-hydrogen and clean energy Authority, the Minister stressed on the need to identify new potential possibilities.
