Seven players fail fitness test, three positive for Covid-19

Reliable sources have informed Daily News that seven players have failed their fitness test which was held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo. Also three players in Nimesh Vimukthi, Sachindu Colombage and Mohamed Shiraz had tested positive for Covid-19 and most probably will miss the upcoming SLC invitation T20 tournament.

Sri Lanka one day and T20 international Skipper Dasun Shanaka, Deputy Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, former Captain Dinesh Chandimal and Ashan Priyanjan were appointed Captains of their respective teams SLC Greys, SLC Blues, SLC Reds, and SLC Greens respectively. Also each squad will reduced to 15 players per side.

In the initial round of this T20 league, each team will play six games where they will play two games each day, with the first game starting at 2.30 p.m. and the second game will start at 7 p.m. under flood lights. The top two teams will automatically qualify for the final, which will be played on 24 August 2021.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Invitational T20 League tournament will be the preparation path for the upcoming South Africa tour of Sri Lanka in September 2021 and the T20 World Cup 2021 in October.
