Seven private hospital employees remanded over fraud
Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday ordered seven employees of a private hospital to be remanded until September 14, who defrauded 392 patients of over Rs.100 milion by using fake vouchers without giving them the discounts provided to the inpatients of the same private hospital.
Following a complaint received from the private hospital, The CID has conducted an investigation in this regard and arrested seven persons, including a woman, and produced them before the court.
The Magistrate rejected the bail requests made by the lawyers representing the suspects. The Criminal Investigation Department informed court that if the suspects are granted bail, investigations and witnesses may be hindered.
