Seven teams vie for NDB Trophy

The third NDB Trophy Mercantile Cricket Association ‘C’ Division One-Day League Tournament 2023, featuring seven teams from prestigious Sri Lankan corporations, has kicked off on June 24, with cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipating a display of skill, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The tournament’s final, dubbed ‘The Grace of Cambridge,’ will take place on August 12 at 10 am at the MCA Grounds.

The seven participating teams include prominent corporations such as David Peiris Group of Companies, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Hemas Holdings, Commercial Bank PLC, Airport & Aviation Services, DFCC Bank, and LOLC Holdings. These teams will compete against each other in the round-robin format during the League Stage, which consists of 21 matches in total. The League Stage is scheduled to continue until July 30 at various venues, including MCA grounds, De Soysa Stadium Moratuwa, BRC Grounds, Army Grounds Mattegoda, Army Grounds Panagoda, Bloomfield, De Mazanod Kandana, BOI Katunayake, and DS Senanayake College grounds.

The National Development Bank (NDB) has graciously stepped in to recognize exceptional individual performances throughout the tournament. Players who excel in their respective roles will be honored with trophies and cash awards for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Series, and Man of the Final. This recognition aims to motivate the players to deliver their best performances and contribute to their team’s success.
