Shehan guides Devanandians to victory

Opener Shehan Rashmika played a aggressive knock of 51 in 29 balls with 11 fours as Sri Devananda College recorded a three wickets win over their arch rivals Dharmasoka in their Battle of the Blues limited over cricket encounter played at Public grounds Ambalangoda on Wednesday.

Dharmasoka elected to bat first in their rain hit game which started late due to a wet wicket . Sokians managed to score 101 for 4 wickets in 23.3 overs while Opener Randul Samarahewa top scored with 53 in 58 balls with 10 fours . The skipper Hasitha Rajapaksa also made a useful knock of 25 in 39 balls 3 fours . Sri Devananda paceman Mithila Fernando was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 25 in a 4.3 over spell.

Sri Devananda chasing a target of 102 runs were 75 for 2 wickets after nine overs and opener Shehan Rashmika was leading from the front with a superb batting display . However Dharmasoka bowlers hit back strongly and Devanandians were reeling at 91 for 7 wickets in 13.4 overs.

However Kaveesh Hansaka (7) and Neshan Kavindu (4) made an unbroken 11 runs right wicket stand to gain 3 wickets victory. Shehan Rashmika was adjudged man of the final as well as best fielder taking two catches in this game. Sri Devanada also won their two day encounter against Dharmasoka at the same venue last week.
