He became second in the Under 10 – Fifty Metre Back Stroke. Again in the same year at the Under ten – 36th National Age group Championship in the 50 Metre Backstroke he became third and at the Central Province Swimming championship he secured the first place at the Under 10 – Fifty Metre Back Stroke, Under 10 – Fifty Metre Free Style and Under ten – 200 Metre Individual Medley. All these events were held at the Ananda College Swimming pool.

In 2012 at the National Age Group ‘B’ Division Swimming Championship he became second at the Under 12 – Two Hundred Metre Individual Medley, third place at the Central Province Age Group Swimming Championship in the Under 12 – fifty Metre Free style, first at the Under 12 – fifty Metre Backstroke and third in the Under 12 – fifty metre Freestyle.

In 2014 at the Central Province Age Group Swimming championship he became first in the Under 14 – Fifty metre back stroke, third in the Under 14 fifty Metre Freestyle and in 2018 at the All Island School Games became Third in the Under 18 Hundred Metre Backstroke held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Pool.

In 2019 at the All Island School Games he became third at the Under 20 – Two Hundred Metre Backstroke and at the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Championship in the Under 12 – Hundred metre Backstroke.

Shenal is a bright student in the G.C.E.(A/L) in Engineering Technology and his ambition is to be a Software engineer and he is thankful to his Swimming Coach for the standard in swimming and his intention is to continue swimming until he reaches National and International level.
